VISIT TO THE NEW SITE OF THE TOWER THEATRE COMPANY

Tuesday 20 August 2010

Members of the Canonbury Society 'shared the stage with Shakespeare'  on 20 July during a visit to the excavation site of  'The Theatre', the first purpose-built theatre in London where the Bard premiered 'Romeo and Juliet' and other productions.  As special guests of The Tower Theatre Company, members were introduced to the site by a senior archeologist at the Museum of London  and entertained with excerpts from Shakespeare's plays and sonnets by talented actors.  A sparkling reception followed. The Canonbury Society is proud to support The Tower Theatre Company -- our former neighbours at Canonbury Tower -- in building a new playhouse on the site of 'The Theatre' that will honour the past and celebrate the future.
