The Inquiry starts on Tuesday 14th September in the Crescent Suite Highbury, 70 Ronalds Road, Highbury N5 1XA. It will proceed over 5 days on the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 21st September.

Read the letter from our Chairman below. Below this letter are links giving more information of the objections made in the past.

Dear Member,

As you know the Canonbury Society has joined with six other local groups (Upper Street Residents' Association, Islington Society, Islington Archaeology & Historical Society, Union Chapel Project, Estorick Gallery and Highbury Fields Association) to fight the current proposals by the Notting Hill Home Ownership (NHHO) to redevelop the former Ford site at 85 Canonbury Road. You will recall that in March this year, Islington Council rejected their application and NHHO are now appealing. We are therefore supporting the Council’s decision and opposing this appeal.

Led by Charles Wood and the Upper Street Residents' Association, a formidable legal and planning team has been assembed to act on our behalf. This is in addition to the Council's barrister and professional experts.

Our advocate is Peter Village QC, a specialist in planning cases and our planning expert is Dr. Chris Miele of Montagu Evans.

The  appeal documents for the Council, the six parties (including the Canonbury Society) and the Appellant are on the application webpage.  Click here to view the documents.

The Inquiry starts on Tuesday 14th September in the Crescent Suite Highbury, 70 Ronalds Road, Highbury N5 1XA. It will proceed over 5 days on the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 21st September.

I do urge you to come to the proceedings whenever you can over the five days. They promise to be interesting, illuminating and at times no doubt entertaining.

Our team is hoping to present their cases during the first two days and it would be encouraging if as many of you as possible could attend the first day.

Best wishes
Philip Walker
Chairman – The Canonbury Society
